Kurt Taylor

Kurt Taylor has been fly fishing for over 20 years, with the last five spent dialing in the unique challenges of the Owyhee River’s big, selective brown trout.

His fly fishing journey started on the legendary Deschutes River in Central Oregon, where he cut his teeth chasing redband trout and swinging flies for steelhead. Since then, his passion has taken him all over the Pacific Northwest, from Spey fishing for winter steelhead to matching the hatch on technical tailwaters like the Owyhee.

When he’s not on the river, Kurt serves as a high school principal and has spent the past 20 years coaching football. Teaching and mentoring are at the core of everything he does, and he brings that same approach to guiding. Whether an angler is looking to refine their presentation or just starting out, he tailors each trip to ensure they walk away with new skills and great memories.

The Owyhee is a special fishery, Kurt’s goal is to help anglers experience it at its best—whether sight fishing to rising trout, nymphing deep runs, or stripping streamers in search of aggressive takes.
